About

Bishop Eric Varden OCSO is the Bishop-Prelate of the Territorial Prelature of Trondheim. An alumnus of Fisher House, he read Theology at Magdalene College, Cambridge, and St John’s College, Cambridge, during which time he was received into the Catholic Church. A Cistercian monk, he was ordained as priest on 16 July 2011, and was elected Abbot of Mount St Bernard Abey, Coalville (Leics.), on 16 April 2015. In October 2019, Bishop Eric was appointed as the Prelate of the Territorial Prelature of Trondheim, and was consecrated as bishop on 3 October 2020.
