The Rachael Ward Memorial Fund

Established in memory of Dr Rachael Ward (née Darlison), this fund makes available £300 per year for Catholic students at Fisher House for the promotion of pro-life causes (including end-of-life care) and natural family planning (NFP). Applications are welcome from all students, although medical students are particularly encouraged to apply. The fund may be used for such purposes as:

  1. Invite a speaker to give a talk on pro-life issues or NFP.

  2. Purchase resources for pro-life outreach and public information.

  3. Support attendance at pro-life or NFP information events and conferences, whether by payment of fees or travel costs.

  4. Support training on matters relating to life issues and NFP.

However, this list is not exhaustive and all applications to the fund will be considered on individual merit. Applications may be made at any time during the academic year for events in Cambridge or elsewhere and should be made through the Catholic Chaplain to the University.

About Dr Rachael Ward

Dr Rachael Ward (1992-2021) studied Medicine at Clare College, Cambridge, between 2010 and 2013, before completing her studies at Imperial College, London. While in Cambridge she was co-chair of the Fisher Society in the year 2012-13. She died suddenly on Easter Tuesday 2021 and is survived by her husband and three children. This fund is established by her husband in her memory to enable young medical students and others to continue the good work she had begun in her career and to inspire them and others to fight the good fight for life, love and hope in a world which so desperately needs it.
