PRIVACY POLICY

The Cambridge University Catholic Association (CUCA) may hold information about previous and existing members of the Catholic community associated with the University of Cambridge. The information that we will hold will be name, date of birth, email address, postal address, phone number, contact permissions, your links to CUCA, year of matriculation, college, subject, and any donation made in favour of CUCA. We will retain this data indefinitely in support of your lifelong relationship with Fisher House and CUCA or until you request us to do otherwise.

We use this information to keep you informed of events, developments, and governance at Fisher House and CUCA, and to raise funds for our charitable purposes. The legal basis for using your information for these purposes is that it is necessary for the pursuit of the legitimate interests of CUCA and there is no overriding prejudice to your interests or fundamental rights and freedoms. We can use your information for these purposes until you request us to do otherwise.

Our policy is to ask for explicit permission before we send fundraising communications by email to comply with requirements under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. Fundraising is an important activity of the charity and we encourage members, past and present, to provide their permission to receive fundraising communications by email when they register with us.

You have the right to:

  • ask us for access to, or rectification or erasure of your data;

  • restrict processing (pending correction or deletion);

  • object to communications or direct marketing; and

  • ask for the transfer of your data electronically to a third party (data portability).

These rights are subject to any statutory requirements requiring us to hold certain financial records (e.g. Gift Aid and accounting records). If you wish to exercise any of these rights, please contact cuca_treasurer@fisherhouse.org.uk with your request.

We are committed to protecting your personal information and being transparent about what information we hold. We will not share or sell your information to other organisations or individuals. We will not aggregate the information into other 'big data' resources. The data will be maintained in a secure, password-protected electronic database/spreadsheet in Fisher House. The encrypted database will be backed up securely in the Cloud.

We will publish on our website any changes we make to this privacy policy and notify you by other communication channels where appropriate.
